Lubritherm Comparison with Diethylene Glycol Hydraulic Fluids

Environmental Characteristics:

Lubritherm All-Temp Hydraulic Fluid is non-toxic and biodegradable. Independent Laboratory testing rates Lubritherm as “Totally non-toxic” and “Fully Biodegradable”. Lubritherm is certified through Environment Canada’s EcoLogo Program as a synthetic industrial lubricant. Lubritherm is ISO 14001 compatible.

Diethylene Glycols Hydraulic Fluids:

Lubritherm:

  • Made up of Diethylene and Polyalkylene Glycol which is NOT friendly or safe to humans or animals.
  • Diethylene glycol is toxic to blood, kidneys, nervous system, and liver. May cause nausea, headache, vomiting, cardiovascular collapse, and brain damage.
  • Made up of Propylene glycol, a safe, friendly substance that is also used in foods.
  • Totally Non-toxic and safe for humans, animals and the environment. Creates no environmental impact, and will literally biodegrade all hydrocarbons.

Methods of Disposal:

Diethylene Glycols Hydraulic Fluids:

Lubritherm:

  • Special waste disposal methods required, same as with oil based hydraulic fluids.
  • Lubritherm has no disposal requirements, can be flushed down-the-drain. Minimal cleanup required.

Flammability:

Lubritherm is totally fireproof and will not burn. High temperatures and pressures will not cause Lubritherm to explode or ignite. Lubritherm will not auto-ignite, nor will it accelerate fire.

Diethylene Glycols Hydraulic Fluids:

Lubritherm:

  • Flash point: 138°C. Flammable in presence of open flames, sparks
  • Auto Ignition Temp: 228°C
  • Flash point: None. (cannot burn)
  • Auto Ignition Temp: None.

Cold Weather Performance:

Lubritherm is approved for cold weather applications. Operating temperature range from <-60°C to 80°C. Gives Instant hydraulic response regardless of environmental conditions throughout the temperature range

Diethylene Glycols Hydraulic Fluids:

Lubritherm:

  • Pour Point °C: -50
  • Outdoor Operating Range °C: Unknown
  • Pour Point °C: <-60 (Cannot freeze)
  • Outdoor Operating Range °C: <-60 to 80

Lubrication:

Lubritherm maintains continuous lubrication throughout its full temperature operating range, utilizing safe chemistry for its lubrication, not oil. Lubrication is very comparable to hydraulic oils in final performance. Lubritherm has been tested, and is field operating at pressure exceeding 6,000 psi with no adverse effects, and is fully compatible with all standard hydraulic seals and metals.

Diethylene Glycols Hydraulic Fluids:

Lubritherm:

  • Diethylene glycols typically offer poor lubrication, with lower film strength and are pressure de-rated compared to oil based hydraulics.
  • Will not oxidize or deteriorate in the presence of extreme temperatures or from any condensation. Result: extended service life, 8 years and counting.
